Exminster Pre-school news – updated March 2019
Firstly, thank you to all the parents and carers who came along to our parents evening in February. Huge thanks also to the Foundation teachers Marie Greenslade and Louise Snelgrove for coming on the evening, we hope you all enjoyed the opportunity to talk to them about school. There will be opportunities for the new starters to speak to their child’s key worker in the Summer Term.
Last month Imogen’s dad came to visit and talked to us about being an Optician – our thanks to Alex for such a fun session, the children really enjoyed it! This month we will be focusing on ‘Countries’ and look forward to visits from parents from Sweden and Poland and learning about what’s similar and what’s different to where we live.
We will be celebrating World Book Day, taking place on Thursday 7th March, by inviting the children to come dressed up as their favourite book character and reading some of their favourite stories. The children will also be busy crafting special Mother’s Day surprises, making pancakes to celebrate Shrove Tuesday, and we will be getting involved with Comic Relief on Friday the 15th March.
We are currently planning our Easter activities and events, which will include our annual Easter Egg Hunt due to take place during the last week of the Spring term. Further information and details will be sent out.
Cygnets sessions for children starting at Exminster Community Primary School in September 2019, will begin in April. Working in partnership with the Reception teachers, these sessions give children the opportunity to become familiar with the school environment whilst in the care of Pre-school staff. The feedback to our unique Cygnets programme is overwhelmingly positive, with parents highlighting in particular that it enables and supports a smooth transition to primary school. An information pack will be sent out to all parents and carers soon.
The last day of the Spring term is Thursday 4th April. Summer Term dates are 23rd April – 19th July, with half-term 27th–31st May. Please also note that Monday 6th May is the May Day Bank Holiday and pre-school will be closed on this day.
