We have strong links with Exminster Community Primary School and run the “Cygnets” programme from the Summer Term before children start school. We work in partnership with the Reception teachers, children attend a session a week in the afternoon at the school to enable them to get used to attending “Big school”. These sessions give children the opportunity to become familiar with the school, teachers and environment. The Reception teachers visit the pre-school during the first half of summer term.

They spend time getting to know the children and join in with the phonics and maths activities. In the second half of the summer term the children have a weekly visit to the school with the pink ladies. During these sessions the children will have the opportunity to eat their packed lunch at school and try a school cooked dinner. The Cygnet Program is an all round school experience which gives the children confidence to start school life. This is a unique programme and ensures the children transition to school is seamless.
