Funding
There are a variety of different funding options available:
Every child is entitled to 15 hours of FREE Early Years Education (EYE) per week for 38 weeks per year, from the term following their third birthday until they start Primary School.
30 hours free childcare: some children of working parents may be eligible for extra free early education and childcare. Find out more about the extended entitlement.
We are also part of the 2 year old funding scheme -Devon is part of a government scheme offering flexible, free childcare places for some two year olds. The scheme is designed to improve children’s learning and development. You may be entitled to receive funding for up to 15 hours of early learning and childcare a week. Read more here.
Funding is paid direct to registered providers by the Local Education Authority. On joining a setting, you will be asked to complete a Children’s Information Form stating your child’s date of birth, the number of hours to be claimed each week at the setting, and the number of hours to be claimed each week at other settings (if applicable). The Early Years Entitlement and 30 hours free childcare can be split between two providers (e.g. pre-school and nursery, or pre-school and registered childminder).
Each term, you will be asked to review this information by completing a Headcount Form. There will be staff on hand to give advice and help explain the process. Any sessions not covered by Early Years funding will be invoiced at the hourly rate, with the exception of settling-in sessions.
